G2 Driving Lessons for Beginners
Learning to drive starts with a calm first lesson. Our MTO-approved Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course takes you from your G1 to your G2 road test step by step, with patient instructors who explain each skill before you try it.
We teach new drivers in Barrie, Innisfil, Orillia and Angus, and pick-up and drop-off is included with every BDE package.
What the BDE course includes
The course has two parts. First, you complete 30 hours of online lessons at your own pace, covering Ontario’s rules of the road, sharing the road and safe driving habits. Then you take your in-car lessons with an instructor: 10 hours in the Basic package, 11 in Silver and 15 in Gold.
Completing the course earns a Ministry-approved certificate most Ontario insurers recognise for a discount. It can also shorten your wait: with an approved BDE course, you can take your G2 road test after 8 months with your G1 instead of 12.
- 30 hours of online lessons at your own pace
- 10 to 15 hours of private in-car lessons
- MTO-approved course certificate
- Pick-up and drop-off included
- Road test preparation in your lessons
- Start from $160, pay the balance in instalments
How it works
1. Enrol and start the online lessons whenever it suits you.
2. Book your in-car lessons. We pick you up for each one.
3. Your instructor builds from quiet streets to busier roads as your confidence grows.
4. When you are ready, take your G2 road test. Some packages include road test booking and the use of our car for the test; the pricing page shows what each one includes.
You need a valid G1 licence to start your in-car lessons. In Ontario, you can get your G1 from age 16.
No, but it lets you take your G2 road test after 8 months with your G1 instead of 12, and the certificate is one most Ontario insurers recognise for a discount.
Most new drivers are. Your first lessons start somewhere quiet, and your instructor explains each step before you try it. You move on only when you feel ready.
Prices depend on the package and your town. See the pricing page for the details. You can start from $160 and pay the balance in instalments.
